ART in WAR is a project focusing on the fact that Denmark has engaged in a number of wars in recent years. No matter what happens in the future, our wars will have an impact on our society in the years to come. Therefore I believe Art on War and Art in War is important as a document, as a way to filter our experiences – but also as something which makes us just meet and discuss the issue of war.

As an artist and as a person I have experienced war from fighting the Danish police as an activist, but I also have first hand war zone experience from Afghanistan and the Libyan war. I have been on “art-missions” to the war zone, but I have also been a spouse to a policeman on a mission in Afghanistan for one year. Through my art I have meet many soldiers as well as civilian Afghans and Afghans who worked for the armed forces. I believe that I’m able to see the conflict from many sides and from both an artistic and an aerial perspective.

I feel it as my duty to share this with you in a number of artworks: from my film ‘Smiling in a War Zone’ to drawings, or maybe even a battle painting. The work is in progress and you can follow the progress on this page.
